Here there be PIRATES

Merry Christmas to Miranda!
Albeit a TAD late -ahem-
My apologies

I drew this...
Last year. And promised I'd finally finish it. Here it is!
The chameleon is named Lucius James Burnhild the III - the pirate has no name. Poor sucker.

I do believe my favorite parts of this are his hat and his hair.
Mainly the feathers.

Typography 3 - Project 1

A new year, a new typography class.
And a new way to make messes.

Project 1 involved taking things we saw around us, and trying to see the letters or words in them. Think of it this way: a tire on a car is an O.
We then had to pick a word, and illustrate it with everyday things. Some of us opted to draw out letters with things (everything from scarves to firefighting gear showed up) or to make the letters out of things like water, ketchup, etc.

More importantly we had to give the image a bit of a meaning, if at all possible. Sam's was "courage", and she wrote it with firefighter's gear (several men in her family are firefighters)
I chose "ouch" because I hurt myself a lot.
Sadly all of my Hello Kitty bandaids were killed in battle with the ketchup.

Make way for ketchup fingers!
MESSY I AM, AND MESSY I SHALL EVER BE!

New year, new classes

Happy new year!

Probably no post-worthy projects for a little bit, because the initial exercises for my new courses are very small and basic (things you'll have seen before, I'm sure)
If any of them turn out fun/worth seeing I'll toss them up.

My new years resolution is to do some more of my own drawings.
It's been far too long since I've done anything fantasy and sparkle-laden.
I'm still stuck in my "I like winter" phase - so expect snow queens and a lot of white in the future.

Greeting Cards

I made my mom blank greeting cards for Christmas, but she decided she liked them so much she didn't want to write in them (HAHA! Success!) Instead she put them into the frame Kathleen got her (they're eventually getting replaced with the pictures of Kat and I that we promised to go along with the frame - we're going to find something else for them later)

The pictures are ones I took last year for Design and Image; dollar store glass beads.
The cards are all 5 inches wide, and 4 inches high.

(Sorry about the terrible picture quality - I can only do so much with my WalMart camera while standing on a chair...!)
